SUNAMI Toru Shoten, whose workshop is located in Kurashiki City, Okayama Prefecture, where ligasa is produced, was a "goza" manufacturer when it was founded in 1886.
Although the production had ceased for a while, the fifth generation, Mr. Takataka Sunami, was taught how to make "ikago (baskets woven with lintel)" by his grandmother at an early age, and now produces easy-to-use products for daily use such as ikago, pots and pans, and bottle baskets.
The softness and smell of igusa, which is made from the same material as tatami mats, changes depending on the humidity of the day because it is constantly breathing.
Also, each time it is used, its shape and color change, it becomes shiny and supple, and its expression changes depending on the person who uses it, and the more you use it, the more it changes to your color.
If a handle becomes weak or has a hole in it that needs to be repaired during use, it can be repaired and used as before, so you can use it as if you were nurturing it for a long time.
