Turibana, also known as Euonymus oxyphyllus, is a deciduous shrub in the spindle tree family (Celastraceae). Its name, which means “hanging flower,” comes from the way its small flowers dangle from the branches. In autumn, it produces charming reddish fruit that hang like little ornaments.

Turibana can be grown in locations ranging from full sun to partial shade. However, for the best autumn foliage color, a sunnier spot is preferable. Be cautious of strong summer sunlight, especially in the afternoon or near reflective surfaces like concrete, as this may cause leaf scorch or weaken the plant.

From May to June, numerous small flowers bloom, hanging delicately from the branches. Water thoroughly when the surface of the potting soil becomes dry—ensure water drains freely from the bottom of the pot.

This shrub has good cold tolerance and generally does not require special winter care. While it is prized for its vibrant autumn foliage, poor sunlight may prevent the leaves from developing full color. The fruit eventually splits into five sections, releasing seeds, and the outer fruit shell often remains on the branches even after the leaves have fallen.
