It breathes in the air of the seasons and absorbs the habits of the wearer, living on as thread. Slowly softening, growing, maturing, and passing on to the next generation.

Knitted slowly, aged slowly. Now appearing in botanical colors. The more you wear it, the more it improves. An artisanal knitting method only available in Japan.

The knitting machine, brought from Europe to Japan in 1907, was custom-modified by Japanese craftsmen of the time—without blueprints—to make the finish feel even better. Naturally, it cannot produce quickly or in large quantities; only one roll can be knitted per day. And if this machine ever stops, it would be nearly impossible to recreate the same slow, gentle quality.

Just as there is SLOW FOOD and SLOW FLOWER, this is SLOW CLOTHING—a sweatshirt made with Japan’s traditional Wakayama “tsuri-urake” loopwheel knitting, created to age beautifully over a lifetime. The more life you live, the more this piece improves, becoming your own vintage.

Above all, it simply feels wonderful.
