Even though it is so small, it is a bonsai. It is so small that it can be grown in a small place.
Purple flowers bloom. It is said that the name "Murasaki-chouka" came from its flower's resemblance to a "chouji" (a Chinese character meaning "a square").
It is endemic to Japan and prefers moist places.
