Hitorishizuka typically blooms around April, so this plant is now in its fruiting stage.
Labeled as a "red-flowered" variety, it’s likely to produce reddish blooms—unlike the usual white.

We often receive wild-collected Hitorishizuka and Futarishizuka at Little each week, but this is the first time we've encountered one in such a healthy, living state.

The name Hitorishizuka (literally “Silent One”) comes from its single, delicate flower, said to resemble the elegant dancing figure of Lady Shizuka, the beloved of the legendary samurai Yoshitsune.
A name as poetic as the plant itself.
Its sister variety, Futarishizuka ("Silent Two"), features two flower stalks, as the name implies.
Since this one has a single flower, it’s clearly Hitorishizuka.

    Care instructions:
It prefers partial to full shade—too much sun can scorch its leaves.
Because it thrives in low light, it also does well indoors, making it a lovely plant to enjoy inside your home.
