    I was taken to Kufuya, located along the Nakatsu River, a river that flows through the center of Morioka City, in the spring of 2024, just before the opening of the babajii house. It was just before the opening of babajii house.

    The atmosphere of Kufuya, with no music playing and high ceilings, and the exotic pink wallpaper in the bathrooms, made me feel like I had been transported to another country, another planet, or another space.

    In this unique atmosphere that makes you feel a bit nervous, relieved, and excited, the restaurant is filled with antiques, and there are only two items on the menu, except for dessert.

    Kumiko Hirai and Ryozo Odawara, who have been running this one-of-a-kind restaurant for 36 years, tell us about the history of their business, their concept of owning a restaurant, and the wisdom of their way of life.
