This is a box garden for the Girls' Festival on March 3.
It is the time to start decorating Hina dolls.
We made it small enough to be placed directly next to the hina dolls and to be displayed in a small space.
Peach blossoms are indispensable for Hinamatsuri.
Peaches are believed to ward off evil spirits, and they are displayed to wish for the healthy growth of girls.
Peaches also came to be called “Momo-no-Sekku” (Peach Festival) because they bloom around the time of Hinamatsuri on the lunar calendar, but today, with the new calendar, it is a little early for the peach season.
Nowadays, growers ship a lot of peach blossoms in time for the Peach Festival, so they are available, but it is a little early for peaches, and the plant itself may think it is too early, but it is difficult to make all the cut peaches bloom, which is the difficult part of flowering peaches.
However, it is a very good season for ume (Japanese apricot)! So I made a box garden for the Dolls' Festival with peaches and Japanese apricots, which are very beautiful at this time of the year!
