Created in Nishi-Ogu, Arakawa, by ceramic artist Tsuchinoko, who works with earthenware made from clay they personally collect and crush by hand.

Planters made from unglazed earthenware are closer to soil than glazed ceramics. Since plants grow by drawing nutrients from the earth, growing them in a vessel that is closer to soil itself feels especially natural.

Earthenware is also highly breathable and offers excellent drainage. Soil needs oxygen, and excess moisture should be allowed to escape—making this type of pot one of the most plant-friendly options.

Because earthenware changes with use, you can enjoy the experience of “growing” both the plant and the vessel over time.
